Blog Tour: Remembrance by Michelle Madow - Author Interview + Giveaway

Today, as part of The {Teen} Book Scene tour for Michelle Madow's Remembrance, we have Michelle Madow herself here to tell us a little bit about herself and her writing. Be sure to check out the rest of the tour stops hosted by The {Teen} Book Scene.

What inspires you to write?
Having an idea and wanting to write it down for others to read is the number one thing that inspires me to write. As for sitting down and starting every day, I always remind myself that I'll only have a finished product if I put in a lot of work and effort!

If you could pick any one item to write about, what would it be? Would it be a specific genre, creature, place?
I've loved vampires since 1999 when I first read In The Forests of the Night by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes, and would love to write about them. However, there seems to be an excess of vampire books out right now, so I'm going to hold off on writing about them until they're not as overdone. (This could be ten or more years, so I'm glad I have lots of other ideas in the meantime ;)

What do you do to set the mood for writing?
I usually read for thirty minutes to an hour before starting to write. This helps me get focused and motivated.

Do you listen to music while you're writing? If so, is there a playlist you make for your stories?
I don't listen to music when I write (I find it distracting). However, I do make playlists of songs that inspire parts of the book or remind me of scenes. I posted the Remembrance playlist on my blog, which you can check out by clicking here.

What are some of your favorite YA books?
Some of my current favorites are Divergent by Veronica Roth, the Iron Fey by Julie Kagawa, Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead, and Gone by Michael Grant.

New Hampshire high school junior Lizzie Davenport has been reincarnated from Regency Era, England ... but she doesn't know it yet.

Then Drew Carmichael transfers into Lizzie's school at the beginning of the year, and she feels a connection to him, almost like she knows him. She can't stop thinking about him, but whenever she tries talking with him about the mysteries behind her feelings, he makes it clear that he wants nothing to do with her. Reaching him is even more difficult because she has a boyfriend, Jeremy, who has started to become full of himself after being elected co-captain of the varsity soccer team, and her flirtatious best friend Chelsea starts dating Drew soon after his arrival. So why can't she seem to get him out of her mind?

Even though Lizzie knows she should let go of her fascination with Drew, the pair of them soon find that fighting fate isn't going to be easy.
