About the Author

Mary Lindsey's debut young adult novel, SHATTERED SOULS, is scheduled for released December 08, 2011 from Philomel/Penguin.

Having received a B.A. in English literature with a minor in drama from the University of Houston, she currently teaches acting to children and teens at a private studio in Houston, Texas.

Mary lives with her husband, three kids, two dogs, her daughter's pet rats, an Australian Bearded Dragon, and dozens of Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches.

She is represented by Ammi-Joan Paquette from Erin Murphy Literary Agency.

Today we're lucky to have Lenzi here, the main character from Mary Lindsey's Shattered Souls, to spill a little about her life as a Speaker and of course, ALDEN! Let's start with a little something about Alden...

Using only the letters from his first name, tell us some qualities you think best exemplify Alden.

Qualities that exemplify Alden are attentiveness, loyalty, daring, empathy, um... I can't think of a quality that begins with "n" other than niceness, but that sounds lame. Too bad there's not an "h" in his name. I think he's pretty hot.

Alden does sound like quite the hottie. If you could choose any person (dead or alive) to try and help move on, who would it be and why?

Oh, definitely my dad. There are so many questions I have about why he... well, did what he did.

What are 3-5 songs you would put on a soundtrack to describe your life as a Speaker?

"Death Came and Got Me" by Rosie Thomas (This song pretty much sums up how I felt before Alden came along)

"Hello" by Evanescence (Rose in my subconscious)

"Exogenesis Symphony Part III" by Muse (This fits now that I knoe what's going on)

If you could trade places with Alden and inhabit another's body (rules aside), who would you choose and why?

Alden's! I'd love to be able to feel his emotions and see the world—especially see me—through his eyes.

I think Alden would be a great person to see the world through. What makes you and Alden such a stellar team?

Well, I got the better end of this deal for sure. Alden knows stuff from all of his previous lifetimes and has to deal with me while I try to figure this whole Intercessor Council thing out. I'm getting the hang of it though, and will catch up to Rose soon; I just know it.
