Synopsis from Goodreads:
Daniel's father has gotten himself killed and left another mess for Daniel to clean up. To save his world from destruction, he must fight off his father's killers while discovering a way to save his world. Time is running out, and Daniel must choose to either walk in his father's footsteps or to reinvent himself into the one to save his world.
Bandits is a story that can appeal to both genders. Along with being action-packed and full of creepy-crawly creatures, Bandits also has blooming romance and loyal friendships.
This book literally takes it all on. It's action, fantasy, mystery, sci-fi, romance and young adult all rolled into one. This gives the book appeal to both male and female readers. The characters are also diverse in race which gives readers of all ethnicities a commonality.
From page one this story is absolutely jam-packed with adventure. The adventure is literally non-stop. The characters are constantly on the run fighting for their lives, the lives of those living on their planet, as well as the planet itself.
Preston puts so much description into the writing, it's hard to not visualize what she wants readers to see. She also has a deep imagination. The planets, space travel and even the trials that Daniel and his friends face are incredibly unique. The creatures and the different worlds she created are astounding.
A great book for any YA reader who is into the sci-fi and fantasy elements. Due to language, I would recommend a slightly older audience.
A great quote from page 245 of Bandits ARC (subject to change): "You can be scared and brave, swallow your fear and do what needs to be done."
